FAQs

1WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
There are 5 brain wave states. When we are awake, our brain waves are at Beta state, we are in normal waking consciousness and have a heightened state of awareness, logic and critical reasoning. In Hypnosis, our brain waves function at a much slower Alpha rythmn. This Alpha state is similar to the state when you are in deep relaxation, slipping into a daydream, meditating, or deeply engrossed in a book or a movie. In this state, your critical mind is not as active your imagination, memory, learning and concentration is heightened. It is an optimal time to program your mind for success, Hypnosis has been used for many years in therapy because it has been found to be effective in helping people to make changes eg stop smoking, weight loss, eliminate phobias etc. Rapid Transformational Therapy uses hypnosis and has helped thousands of people no matter what their issue. It is a proven, effective, and simple that was developed by Marisa Peer, an experienced and reknown British hypnotherapist..
2CAN EVERYONE BE HYPNOTISED?
Yes, the hypnotic state is a natural process and everyone can be hypnotised as long as you want to be. It is a relaxing and enjoyable state to be in.
3WILL I BE ASLEEP DURING THE SESSION?
No, you will not be asleep. You will be aware of everything that is happening during your session, but be very relaxed at the same time.
4WILL I BE MADE TO DO THINGS UNDER YOUR POWER DURING HYPNOSIS?
No. You will be in charge during the entire session. You cannot be hypnotised and cannot be made to do anything against your will.
5HOW WILL I FEEL DURING & AFTER MY SESSION?
During your hypnotherapy session, you will feel relaxed & comfortable.

After your session, depending on how deeply you have gone during your session, you may feel lighter, relaxed, have a sense of freedom. On the following days, you may continue to be reflective and find out more about yourself and how your previous experiences and beliefs have programmed you, your feelings about yourself and your behaviors. You will feel calmer and have a greater sense of understanding & empowerment.
6WILL MY SESSION BE KEPT STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL?
Absolutely.I work in accordance with doctor’s code of conduct and you can be assured of full confidentiality. I do not contact other practitioners or your treating doctor unless I am concerned for your or others’ safety. In such situations, I will always inform you and obtain your permission before doing so. All your files are kept in secure, locked premises.
7DO I HAVE TO DO THE SESSION IN THE CLINIC?
No, we can work online using Zoom. Online sessions are just as effective as a face to face session and can be done in the convenience of your home. All you will need is a secure internet connection and I will provide all instructions well before your session. I do Zoom sessions with my clients who are in remote areas or in other countries outside Australia.
8HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
In hypnosis we get to the root cause or the core of the beliefs and the reasons for your issues. This saves weeks or months of talking therapy, trying to decipher our thought processes. Once we discover the cause of your issues which are usually formed at a young age, we can then make more appropriate interpretations of scenes or incidences which caused our issues in the first place. We now know and understand that our brains are neuroplastic, which means that our brains can change and relearn things throughout our lives enabling us to bring about change.

Most issues need only one session. However more deep seated, long term issues such as anxiety and depression can take several sessions.
9WHAT IF I UNCOVER SOMETHING I DON'T WANT TO SHARE?
In the session you are in total control and it’s fine if you do not want to share your experience. However I will need you to share how the incident makes you feel so I can then help you move forwards.
10WILL YOU BE DOING REGRESSION?
Yes. Regression is an invaluable tool I use to discover the cause of your issues. During regression you will not relive your experience. You will simply review or observe those experiences or events as though you are watching it on a TV screen. Like a sad movie, you may feel teary or sad when you describe the event, but you will not relive the pain of those events. You will be completely safe during your regression.
11DO YOU WORK WITH CHILDREN
Yes, I do see children on a case by case basis depending on their issues. This will need to be discussed with a parent/caregiver before a session is arranged.
12What is Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT)?
RTT is a powerful and deep therapeutic technique that gets right to the root core of your issue and starts the healing process using the power of your own subconscious mind.

RTT embraces many of the positive aspects of hypnosis and hypnotherapy that are known to produce a transformative effect on clients: the use of trance, regression and hypnotic conditioning. However RTT goes far beyond these approaches, diagnosing what works with real clients in real sessions to build a new therapeutic approach.
Marisa Peer who is a world reknown hypnotherapist. She identified that regardless of their issue, all her clients benefitted from the application of a particular set of techniques over and over again. These insights provided the foundations for Rapid Transformational Therapy to emerge as a distinctive approach. Dr Merci Kusel went to London to personally train in this technique with Marisa Peer who has been voted Britain’s best therapist by Men’s Health magazine and whose work has changed the lives of thousands of people including CEOs. Olympic athletes, celebrities and rock stars all of whom suffer from the same issues as everyone else regardless of their fame or position in life.
13What does RTT look like?
We know that clients are time starved and come to us in pain, both physical and emotional. They want rapid results. So the first difference with RTT is it aims to deliver permanent change in as few sessions as possible and some people find that a single 90-120 minute session helps create a major shift in the way they feel. Some clients with more longstanding and deep issues may need up to 3 sessions
The second difference with RTT is that it is a method that truly empowers the client. By using a technique called Role Function, Purpose, It honours and values the significance clients attach to their issues/problems and then offers a powerful emotional release for them. They can actually be free from pain.
A third difference with RTT is its use of Command Cell therapy as a modality for purposefully healing the body, as opposed to positive conditioning alone.
Lastly, RTT draws out ‘unfinished business’, meaning it is a technique for addressing the trauma that clients have been holding onto for many years including events occurring in childhood. Upgrading the Child offers a therapeutic space for dialogue and communication with significant others.
In RTT, the client is involved with the therapist in uncovering the meaning and interpretation of events and then changing them. This leads to permanent and powerful change which can occur as soon as the following day after the therapy session
